South Carolina is proud to host the Southern Group of State Foresters’ (SGSF) 2022 Summer Meeting June 6-9 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville. This annual event brings together the leaders of state forestry agencies from 13 Southern states along with the primary federal and private partners with whom we work to conserve southern forests.
SGSF provides leadership in sustaining the economic, environmental and social benefits of the South’s forests, which are numerous and varied. South Carolina forests, together with those of our other southern neighbors, make up what’s called the “wood basket of the world,” producing more wood than any other nation.
We work together to identify and address existing and emerging issues and challenges that are important to Southern forests and citizens. The focus of the meeting this year is ecosystem services, and the associated markets for southern forests, specifically touching on the growing market opportunities around carbon and water.
