Below is a list of current pine straw and timber sales open for bids on state-owned forest lands. It is very important for bidders to read the exact specifications for every solicitation and follow precisely the instructions included therein to be considered.

Payment in the full amount of the performance bond is to be made within ten (10) days of notification of Forestry Commission approval.

All correspondence Must Reference Bid on Forest Products Sale WTSF-14-ADV-TS-23 and be in the format / form of: a blended, per-ton price for all forest products. Payment in the full amount of the bid is to be within ten (10) days of notification of Forestry Commission approval.

Jocassee Gorges Camp McCall/Poplar Hollow, Pickens County

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will accept sealed, per ton bids for the sale of approximately 40 acres of white pine sawtimber and pulpwood in northern Pickens County. The sale will be a silvicultural clearcut of planted white pine, with a very minimal component of hardwood. Bids should be in the form of one per ton price each for white pine sawtimber, white pine pulpwood, and all hardwood (blended). SCDNR does not advertise volumes or guarantee acreages, and bidders are encouraged to make their own determinations.

The sale areas are part of, and located on SCDNR’s Jim Timmerman Natural Resources Area at Jocassee Gorges in northern Pickens County. The sale areas are just to the north of Camp McCall and Poplar Hollow and lie on the east side of Hwy 178 from which they will be accessed. The boundaries of the sale areas are marked with blue paint and the Jocassee Gorges boundaries are marked with yellow WMA signs. The attached sale maps are believed to be reliable and accurate, but are not absolutely guaranteed.

Bids will be accepted until 11:00 a.m. on August 31, 2022 at SCDNR Headquarters, 1000 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC – Room 202, at which time the bids will be publicly opened. Bids may be delivered to the opening; mailed to Gary Burger, Statewide Forester, P.O. Box 167, Columbia, SC 29202; or e-mailed to BurgerG@dnr.sc.gov. All bids should be signed by the bidder and clearly marked “Jocassee Gorges 2022 Timber Sale”. NO VERBAL or FAX BIDS will be ACCEPTED. Mailed bids must be received by 4:00 p.m. on August 30, 2022. SCDNR reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

SC Parks, Recreation, and Tourism

Aiken State Park, Aiken County

The sale area is located in the western most portion of Aiken State Park. The sale area consists of approximately 212 acres and is bordered to the north and east by Old Tory Trail Road and State Park Road.  The sale area consists of predominantly longleaf pine to be thinned. This is a mark-to-cut thinning of approximately 212 acres of planted and natural longleaf, slash, and loblolly pine. Trees to be cut and removed are marked with blue paint. Bids shall be based on a per-ton price for separate PINE products, including pine pulpwood, pine chip-n-saw, and pine sawtimber. Bids open 09/14/2022 at 3:30 PM ET.
